Wieland Wagner - handwritten birthday letter to Adolf Hitler

Orders and Military Collectibles from 1919 onwards | A108r | Live auction | 1467 Lots

Description

Written in black ink on Wieland Wagner's letterhead (Bayreuth), A4 format, undated, but conclusively attributable to April 20, 1932. Wagner congratulates him to his birthday and wishes him every success in the elections “... wish that you soon become Minister of the Interior or Foreign Minister or even Dictator ...". He also criticized the government at the time and asks Hitler to visit him so that he can take two photos of him. Wagner affectionately calls Hitler an “Oberbonze” (big shot), which shows the very good relationship between the two. Wieland Wagner was the grandson of the German composer Richard Wagner. Apart from Heinrich Hoffmann, he was the only person allowed to take official photographs of Hitler. A very rare document. Signs of age and use. Handwriting - export permit required, issuance of which will take approx. 2-3 weeks.
