Description

Hoffmann half-portrait of Adolf Hitler in party uniform (from the silver frame?), with a handwritten dedication and signature in ink below: (tr.) "To my old, faithful companion - Ulrich Graf - with warmest wishes for Christmas 1936 - Adolf Hitler." Damaged at the edges. Dimensions 30 x 24 cm. Ulrich Graf (1878-1950) stepped in front of Hitler when the Bavarian State Police opened fire at the Feldherrnhalle during the Beer Hall Putsch on November 9, 1923. He was seriously wounded and was considered Hitler's savior from then on. From 1924, he served on the Munich City Council, in 1935 as a city councilor, in 1936 as a member of the Reichstag, and in 1943 as an SS-Brigadeführer. As a special sign of recognition, Graf was allowed to march alongside Hitler in the November 9 marches.
