The individual, still existing war diaries bound in one volume, beginning with U12 on 30 September 1914 until the final entry on 14 October 1917 at 9:20 in the Port of Pula, (tr.) „Lengthways? Maria Theresia moored". Containing handwritten and typed entries listing all combat patrols under Forstmann's command, supplemented in some cases by original marching orders issued by the U-boat commander/naval command, secret orders, lists of ships sunk, war experiences, machine malfunctions, ammunition consumption and much more. The handwritten note „Bravo!" added by Kaiser Wilhelm II to the report dated 25 May 1916 on the shelling of the port of Portoferraio.
