Description

Steel skull with brass trim and mountings, ridged front visor and a rib on the back. The outline of an eagle with appliquéd reserve cross screw-mounted at the front. A brass base at the crown with four ball-head screws and clamp nuts, removable steel spike. Convex chinscales (re-leathered) on geometric rosettes, fixed with pins. The large state cockade in lacquered sheet iron at the side. The leather liner has been lost. The surface pitted in places, a small crack between the visor and skull, several mounting components renewed, one small rivet has been lost on the side of the front visor. Slightly damaged in places, signs of age. Extremely rare, early cuirassier's helmet.
