Description

Beautifully preserved hexagonal blade, etched with trophies and tendrils on both sides along half its length, the Solingen king's head mark at the root. Knuckle-bow hilt with lavish relief decoration, the gilding in fine condition. A recumbent lion on the guard plate, mother-of-pearl grip scales, an appliqué with the sovereign's cipher „M" below the royal crown on the obverse. Leather scabbard (scuffed) with gilt fittings. The silver sword knot a later replacement (tarnished) with the Prince Regent's crown. Includes the leather carrying device on a white fabric strip with a triple-tongue buckle in brass. In an old, damaged cardboard box (incomplete, some of the edges open and covered in black adhesive tape). Slightly damaged in places, signs of handling and age. Length 90 cm. A rare set, the edged weapon in unusually good condition.
