Description

The letters/cards from Winifred Wagner all addressed to a Frau Herkt, bearing her original signature in ink. A thank-you note for flowers dated 27 August 1965 with printed letter head „Winifred Wagner", typewritten thank-you card for flowers dated 30 August 1968, typewritten letter with printed header „Winifred Wagner" and invitation to visit in person dated 29 August 1970, ditto dated 10 September 1970 enclosing information on how Frau Herkt could join the „Friends of Bayreuth", ditto dated 28 August 1974 thanking her for the flowers, ditto dated July 1977 and a printed thank-you card for birthday wishes with additional handwritten greeting plus handwritten envelope, the postmark dated 7 July 1973. Moreover, two half-length portrait photographs of Winifred Wagner by Bayreuth photographer Lammel, her signature on the front and back of one, only on the back of the other. Also includes an album with photo postcards from the 1930s to 70s, such as the Wieland Wagner postcards (tr.) „The Führer with Rich. Wagner's grandchildren in Bayreuth" and "Winifred Wagner" (2 motifs), furthermore Goebbels in conversation with Winifred, a portrait of Hans Schemm and photo of his grave, portraits of Richard Wagner, artists, indoor and outdoor shots of Bayreuth. Comes with a loose postcard and snapshots, in total over 60 pictures. In addition, the programme booklet for the Bayreuth Festival 1936, the book „Bayreuth - Der Lebensweg einer Stadt", 1936, six programmes for Wagner operas in 1972 (Götterdämmerung and Walküre), 1974 (Thannhäuser, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Tristan und Isolde) and 1977 (Thannhäuser), and two city plans of Bayreuth (one dated 1936).

The pre-sale view will take place from May 12 - May 15 2026 in our auction rooms at Bretonischer Ring 3 in 85630 Grasbrunn / Munich from 11 am to 5 pm (CEST).
