Slightly curved, single-edged, chromed blade cut with a shallow fuller and three grooves on both sides. Gilt knuckle-bow hilt, the knuckle bow struck with the number „119", Soviet star and laurel leaf ornaments, a Soviet star appliquéd on the grip cap, the grooved grip in blackened wood. The black-lacquered scabbard with gilt mountings and a movable suspension ring. Soviet coat of arms of circa 1940 (11 republics) on the locket. Length approx. 96 cm. In good, used condition, slight signs of age. According to some sources, only a few such shashkas were produced before 1945 and were supposed to be introduced as a replacement for the 1927 model sabre, in the cavalry for all commanders up to and including colonel, in other armed forces for those commanders who required a horse according to the regulations. A few exemplars were issued to the army and mainly carried in parades by the flag bearers.Condition: II
