Description

Officer's or non-commissioned officer's issue. Narrow thrusting blade of triangular section, deeply fullered on all sides (pitted and notched in places) with a sharp point. The upper sixth entirely covered with etched décor of a profile head with mitre (over-polished), crescent moon, sun and star. Brass knuckle-bow hilt (the riveting open and grip leather renewed). The sheet brass pommel cap with a lion's head pommel, fastened with nails. Original wooden scabbard covered in black leather (defects in the leather, some areas re-blackened), brass mounts with two vertical bars and 15 horizontal bands. The two carrying straps each with a movable suspension ring (later replacements), blackish-brown putty on the lower edge of the locket. Slightly damaged in places, repairs, signs of age and use. Length 157 cm. Extremely rare find.
