Description

Well-preserved, strongly curved blade of triangular section with a sharp cutting edge. Both sides of the root etched with gold-inlaid ornaments (stars, moon, shell, lozenge lattice), the manufacturer's mark „Mfture n ale de Klingenthal Coulaux Frères" on the spine. Smooth, gilt brass hilt with a black, leather-covered grip (scuffed) and wire winding. The black leather-covered scabbard somewhat worn, with gilt brass fittings (minor dents) and two movable suspension rings. Slightly damaged in places, signs of age. Length 97 cm. Very imposing sword. See Lhoste/Resek, Les Sabres, p. 59 (No. 7).
