Description

A double vessel consisting of two nearly cylindrical containers joined together. One container features a lid/cap shaped like a screaming monkey with its hands resting on its stomach. The wide-open mouth has an opening through which incense can be burned. Signs of wear due to age; the tip on the monkey’s head is chipped; otherwise in good condition. Dimensions: 28.5 x 20 x 14 cm. A very rare piece. The age of the object was determined based on its characteristics, without having obtained a TL appraisal. CULTURAL ASSET!

Provenance: Ex Hank Johnson collection (US), than Mike Teager collection (US), since early 2000s German Private Collection.
