Ebonized wood with alabaster inlays, some gilded. Richly sculpted body featuring columns and niche arches made of carved alabaster (with a few well-replaced sections). Hinged lid with two alabaster-inlaid panels and a removable iron carrying handle. The lid was originally lined with decorative paper; the interior was lined with green velvet in the 19th century. Small interior drawer with lid on the side. Several secret compartments; both side panels are removable, revealing five drawers on the left and two drawers with a secret drawer on the right. The drawers have likely been well restored. Functional original lock with matching key. Dimensions 18 x 33.5 x 21 cm.Condition: II Questions about the lot?
