Bronze with a brown patina. Signed “W. SCHWARTZKOPFF” on the plinth, along with the foundry mark “LAUCHHAMMER (logo) BILDGUSS 33” (number in the mark). Slender, frontally posed female figure with legs close together and arms crossed in front of the chest; smoothed modeling with restrained detail and a cohesive, serene composition. The depiction features a stylized, mask-like, simplified physiognomy. Mounted on a black marble stand, the base shows clear signs of wear, scratches, and several chips, including a larger chip on the lower edge. Patina is generally even; superficial scratches and slight signs of abrasion are visible. Overall dimensions approx. 49 cm, diameter approx. 13 cm; bronze dimensions approx. 37 cm, diameter approx. 9 cm. Schwartzkopff studied at the art academies in Kassel and Weimar (studying under Louis Kolitz and Adolf Brütt, among others) and worked in various materials, including bronze.Condition: II + Questions about the lot?
