The double-edged blade of lenticular cross-section. Cut with triple fullers in the upper third, the king's head mark of Johannes Wundes (1560-1610) of Solingen struck above the fullers on both sides. Fine ornamental décor struck in the fullers. Sturdy, fluted ricasso. Original blackened, ridged hilt, some of the connections of the bars wrought in the shape of hands. The S-shaped, curving quillons extending into large, octagonal knobs. Stepped grip with cord winding covered in leather. Chiselled iron grip ferrules. Octagonal, pear-shaped pommel with a distinct, octagonal riveted finial. Length 130 cm. A very similar sword, probably from the same workshop, can be found in the collection of the Swiss National Museum in Zurich.
