Description
The distinctively domed chamfron wrought in several pieces with finely fluted décor. The lower edge with a prominent roped, bulging flange. A quadrangular spike with a petal-shaped guard plate riveted at the centre (a good historicism replacement), above which a riveted plume socket in brass, finely etched with decorative tendrils. Flanges with finely turned and roped edges, riveted at the side as eye protection. Riveted ear protectors with turned and roped edges. A double perforation on the top edge to attach the hinge for the missing neck guard. Remnants of the original leather lining on the inside and an old inventory number „No 52 in red paint. Length 58.5 cm.Provenance: Formerly in the Hohenzollern Collection at Sigmaringen Castle.
