An impressive French Louis XVI-style office desk, 2nd half of the 20th century

Description
Solid oak desk with sumptuous appliqués in gilt bronze. Columns with solid leaf capitals standing on four conical legs, pseudo-fluted in the lower half, supporting a deeply carved frieze with curved acanthus ornaments. Painted medallions representing Apollo and the Muses set in the centre of all three sides, surrounded by flowing bronze tendrils. The front panel of the drawers entirely veneered in precious wood with three lockable drawers, varnished in shellac. Leather-covered table top with gold-embossed borders.
