Description
Intricately carved beech table, the entire surface gilt and embellished with fabulous rocaille ornaments, caryatids and decorative tendrils. The heavy marble top with prominent contours, supported on four fine openwork legs, these connected by a cross stretcher crowned with pinnacles. Dimensions approx. 86 x 172 x 82 cm. François Linke (1855 - 1946) is regarded as one of the most significant Parisian ébenistes, or cabinetmakers, of the Rococo or Classicist period. In 1881, Linke opened his own cabinetmaking workshop in the local centre of Paris, which enjoyed long-lasting success.
