A French silver vase with lid, in the style of J. B. Claude Odiot, Paris, circa 1840/50

Description

Silver, the interior gilt. Circular base with a raised leaf ornament. The outside of the bowl decorated with scenes in relief: one side with the Three Graces, on the other side, antique-style lovers with a harp and putto. Two curved handles with fully sculptured leaf ornaments and acorns on the lower edge. Press-in lid with floral finial. The base, bowl and lid all marked with the head of Minerva. Height 27 cm, weight 1225 g. The piece has the same shape as a vase from a coffee and tea service by Odiot.
