Description

Made of ivory, the silver mounts gilt on the inside. On three ball feet. The ivory panels virtually cylindrical. An exquisitely carved, continuous representation of putti playing and making music around a tree. The faces, hair and the leaves of the tree worked in detail. The base and opening with silver mounts. Domed, press-in lid with a broad, fluted rim, hammered floral ornaments and a ball knob. A fully sculptured leaf ornament on the handle. The edge of the lid hallmarked. Tiny imperfections in the ivory, the edge of the lid slightly misshapen. Dimensions 24.5 x 19 x 13.4 cm, total weight 573 g. Current CITES documents with trade clearance included.
