Description

Cap body in field-grey doeskin cloth, black velvet center band, gold wire piping and chin cords. Silver machine-embroidered Heer style eagle hand-applied, silver metal eagle centered on cap band. Matte black pliable leather visor, gold rayon lining with visible size stamp “57”, brown leather sweatband. Small tear at back of sweatband, moisture soiling to lining. Former Andrew Mollo Collection. Cf. Michael D Beaver with William Shea, “The Collectors Guide to the Distinctive Cloth Headgear of the Allgemeine and Waffen SS”, pp. 148-149.
