Description

Bronze with a brown patina, the artist's signature "Morise" on the plinth. A portrait of the Emperor in uniform circa 1810. Highly detailed, lifelike metal sculpture of the great Corsican military leader with sword, telescope, saddle holster and delicate bridle. Red and white veined marble pedestal (two inconspicuous vacant drill holes on the top). Louis Marie Morise was an outstanding French sculptor and specialist for historical scenes. The Musée de l'Armée in Paris presented a copy of this bronze figure in Salle Turenne. Slightly damaged in places, signs of age. Dimensions 54 x 24 x 67 cm. Weight approx. 40 kg. Splendid large, detailed statue.
