Description

The strongly curved, single-edged blade with a broad, double-edged point. Three grooves running over its entire length, the flat, central fuller struck with ornamental décor of eyes and saw tooth marks. A short ricasso at the base. Iron hilt with finger rests, the S-shaped, curved quillons with finely chased finials. A large, shell-shaped hand cover (pitted) on the obverse, the knuckle bow with a chiselled node. The later, 18th century grip with fine copper wire winding and Turk's heads. Flat, pagoda-shaped pommel with chiselled basket weave decoration. Length 61.5 cm.
