Description

The sturdy tusk with a beautifully shaped, twisted helical structure. Some damage to the tip, even surface with an exquisite patina. Length 171 cm. The narwhal (Monodon monoceros) is part of the Monodontidae family or "white whales". During the Renaissance, the tusks of this marine mammal were regarded as the horns of the legendary unicorn and said to possess supernatural powers. CITES documents available.
