Description

Cal. 12mmRaphael, SN. 24, barrel length 151 mm, slightly frosted bore, good rifling. Six shots. The top of the barrel marked with the dealer's address "Güvilljer (?) & Cie à PARIS". Nickel plated Covered in floral engraving. Loading gate. Base pin stuck. Double-action needs work. Cylinder transport in singel action rotates only 5 chambers, gets stuck at number 6, needs some work. Smooth rosewood grips in good condition. Serial number 24 inside. Lanyard loop on screw-on ejector rod. In contemporary wooden case, with key. Brass handle. A crack on the lid, the floor slightly loose. Dimensions 33 x 18 x 7 cm. A very early and extremely rare central fire revolver. In the USA this gun is known as the "Raphael" Revolver, since the US Ordnance Department received approx. 100 units via the gun dealer George Raphael & Company, and purchased more during the civil war. The complicated mechanics didn't make this gun a winner, but it's rarity makes it a desirable collector's item.
