Description

An octagonal, 250 mm Damascus steel barrel with indicated rifling, but smooth bore in 15 mm calibre. Browned barrel surface with fine Damascus pattern, two silver bands at the breech. The previously existent front sight professionally removed. No proof marks. On the underside of the barrel later inventory number (?) "184". Heavily darkened iron flintlock with typical hammer safety. Signed "D. Egg" on the smooth lock plate. Frizzen on rollers. Finely engraved hare in the left section of the lock plate, floral scrolling leaves. En suite engraved iron furniture. The silver thumb rest was probably incorporated into the later attached butt plate to cover an older damage. Walnut half stock with horn nose. Two old, professional repairs with inserted, matching coloured wooden pieces. Finely chequered butt stock. Various signs of age and use. Original wooden ramrod. Mechanically sound. Length ca. 39 cm.
