Two illegible barrel maker's marks between gold-inlaid leaf motifs at the breech. The tang with deeply etched foliage décor. Lightly engraved, chiselled miquelet lock, the plate signed "Thomaso Contino". The half stock made of lavishly carved walnut with elaborately crafted brass furniture. Abundant acanthus and trophy decoration in relief on a finely chased background, underlaid in silver. Interspersed with pseudo-antique portrait heads in half relief, appliquéd in silver. The coat of arms of the noble Italian "Tasstii" family on the butt cap. One barrel band richly decorated in relief. Inset wooden ramrod with iron wad hook.
