Description

Two-stage barrel, octagonal then round, with smooth bore in 16 mm calibre. At the breech struck mark "CH", preceded by date"1591". Wheellock with spring-loaded pan cover and closed wheel cover, the lock plate with repeated mark "CH", spring-loaded safety lever. Finely studded, blackened fruitwood stock with engraved bone inlays, the pommel cap with coat of arms of the Electorate of Saxony. Original wooden ramrod with engraved bone tip and threaded iron sleeve. Beautiful, untouched original condition, the stock lightly rubbed in places and with pressure marks, the ball pommel with fine shrinkage crack on one side. Length 55 cm.
The mark "CH" may be attributed to the Dresden gunsmith Clemens Hahn, who was recorded there circa 1590.
