Low cylindrical tube with three offset rows of strong thorns. The dating to the 1st half of the 3rd century B.C. is based on comparative finds in the cemetery at Ur (C. L. Wooley, The Royal Cemetery. A Report on the Predynastic and Sargonid Graves excavated between 1926 and 1931 (1934), pl. 224 U, 9137). Intact. Length 3.8 cm.Comes with a lance shoe, round in cross-section. Decorated with four horizontal lines below the opening. Intact. Beautiful patina. Length 23 cm.
Provenance: German private collection, acquired at Auktionshaus Fischer, Luzern, in the 1990s.
