Description

The double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section, the ridge reaching almost to the point. No manufacturer's mark. The brass hilt originally gilt, the quillons with the colours of Estonia enamelled on the copper escutcheon on the obverse languet and the Estonian coat of arms on the reverse languet. The rounded ivory grip with several tension cracks. The scabbard covered in brown leather, with three originally gilt brass fittings and two suspension rings. The scabbard fittings and the rivet on the pommel all numbered "3". The pommel itself and the quillons are also likely to bear the same number on the inside. Length of the dagger 40.5 cm, overall length 43 cm.Of the utmost rarity. Following the collapse of the Russian empire in the wake of the October Revolution, Estonia declared its independence on 24 February 1918, which was lost in 1940 on the annexation by the Soviet Union under the Hitler-Stalin Pact.Attention - shipping to non-EU countries subject to CITES regulations.Condition:I - II Questions about the lot?
