Description
A deformed data plate (aluminum) and a small section of the aircraft fuselage, still attached by two screws. The bomber crashed near Salmünster on Whit Sunday, May 28, 1944. Following a fierce aerial Battle with the German Luftwaffe (JG 27), the crew bailed out; the aircraft continued flying pilotless for a considerable distance. The wreckage was recovered by the local fire department and loaded onto railcars at the station (due to raw material shortages). Included is the Book *Absturz im Kinzigtal* (“Crash in the Kinzig Valley”); the incident is described on Page 103.Condition: III Questions about the lot?
