Certificate to Iron Cross 1st Class, 13.03.1944, signed by Kapitän zur See Rudolf Peters. All three documents hole-punched, the swastikas painted over in black and the margins of the Iron Cross documents trimmed. Transcripts of the war diaries of U-84 (09.08.1941–18.08.1943) and U-312 (13.01.1944–04.01.1945). The war diaries were transcribed on a typewriter after the war; detailed entries with date, time, location and incidents. These extensive records document nearly the entire military career of Obermaschinist Peikert. They can also be used for research and archival purposes. Particularly noteworthy are the numerous submarine photographs, with very rare shots: portrait photos of Peikert and his comrades, in some cases, the sailors wear decorations such as the Submarine War Badge, service on board, reception in Narvik, barracks life, training, photos of the officers and submarine commanders, submarine base “Lorient”, submarine interior, the commander of U-312 Kurt-Heinz Nicolay, the commissioning of U-312 on 21.04.1943, test runs in the Baltic Sea, photos taken aboard the “Robert Ley”, group photos, driving school on U-120 on 02.08.1940, shots of other warships, such as the destroyer “Bruno Heinemann”, the battleship “Scharnhorst”, the destroyer “Erich Giese”, military leave, rescue of the crew of the sunken Norwegian steamship “Torranger” on 23.06.1942, photos of the submarine on the high seas, U-84 before entering the bunker at the Brest base, welcoming the submarine crew ashore, submarine tower emblems, etc. Nearly all photographs are annotated with handwritten notes and information. More than 240 photos, approximately 25% of which are prints from original photographs. Also included are postwar photographs from veterans' reunions, further documents and autographs. A very substantial and rare estate, compiled by the Obermaschinist himself (two full binders).
