Description

Driver's licence of Jakob Werlin (1886–1965), at the time still referred to as “Befähigungs-Zeugnis”, issued on 4 December 1909 in Graz. This is the first Austrian driver's licence; a copy of a newspaper report is included. Traces of age and handling. Framed original photograph showing his son, Hans Werlin, with the car (Mercedes 170) of Jakob Werlin, taken circa 1994, dimensions 43x33 cm. Jakob Werlin was an SS Ehrenführer (SS number 266,883) and Inspector General of the Führer for Motor Vehicles as well as a member of the board of Daimler-Benz AG.

The auction starts on Wednesday, November 25, 2026 at 4 pm (CET), start subject to the timing of the preceding auction, with Lot no. 8001 - 8488 and continues on Thursday, November 26, 2026 at 10 am (CET) with Lot no. 8489 - 9186. The pre-sale view will take place from May 12 - May 15 2026 in our auction rooms at Bretonischer Ring 3 in 85630 Grasbrunn / Munich from 11 am to 5 pm (CET).
