Description
Three-piece construction with an iron core and a silver frame; the reverse bears the “800” fineness hallmark. The swastika on the obverse has been removed, and the core has been partially repainted; the reverse remains in pristine, untouched condition. It comes with its original neck ribbon (49.5 cm) and suspension ring, which also bears the “800” fineness hallmark. A typical example of manufacture by the firm Klein & Quenzer, Idar-Oberstein. Housed in its original presentation case; the case opens and closes perfectly, though the silk lining between the lid and the base (interior) is torn, and there are signs of age and wear. Oberleutnant Siegfried Röthke served in Kampfgeschwader 4 “General Wever.” He was awarded the Knight's Cross on June 2, 1943, and flew over 500 combat missions.Condition: II - Questions about the lot?
