Orders and Military Collectibles from 1919 onwards | A109r | Live auction | 1186 Lots
Description
Bronze with a brownish-green patina. Large version with a bronze plinth, monogrammed "FK" on the top. Two bronze tabs on the underside for mounting onto a marble pedestal. Total height 42 cm, weight 19.8 kg. In 1931, Fritz Klimsch was commissioned to create a larger-than-life sized version of this sculpture for the new Bayer AG lido in Leverkusen; by order of Fritz Todt, he made another copy for the lakeside terrace of the Rasthaus am Chiemsee. This smaller version differs only marginally from the large sculpture, for example regarding the modelling of the breasts and the hands. Apparently, just two copies of the sculpture were produced, one for Fritz Todt's personal use. It was displayed in the exhibition "Fritz Klimsch. Kollektivausstellung Juni - Juli 1941" in the Secession Building in Vienna and in the Great German Art Exhibition of 1940.Condition: II + Questions about the lot?
