Description
Brass with gilt bronze finish (slightly spotted with age). Triangular base plate with curved feet, hexagonal shaft with brass fitting for the light bulb. Mount for the missing lampshade in white metal, the round brass disc for attaching the shade present. Original wiring. Not tested for function. Overall height 52.5 cm. The Führerbau and the NSDAP administrative building were constructed after designs by the Munich architect Paul Ludwig Troost (1878–1934), who was Hitlers preferred architect before Speer. He did not live to see the completion of these buildings (1935) or the building complex (1937); after his death, his widow Gerdy Troost, then only 30 years old, continued his projects together with architect Leonhard Gall, and in particular the interior work of the Führerbau, for which Hitler awarded her the title of professor in 1937. The lamps of the Führerbau were made by the company I. Winhart, Marsstraße, Munich. Cf. ceiling and wall lights as well as a floor lamp from the Führerbau in Hermann Historica, auctions 48, 50, 52, 56 and 63. Very rare. The ceiling and wall lights actually remained in use for some time even after 1945; however, the office furniture, including the desk lamps, was quickly discarded.Condition: II Questions about the lot?
