Description
Three sheets, lined, nearly five pages written in pencil. The morning letter of three pages (29.5 x 22.5 cm) is filled with euphoria, declarations of love, eroticism, but also complaints about the slowness of written correspondence and the hope of finding a letter from her in Bayrischzell that afternoon, which is to inform him about Carin's conversation with her mother-in-law regarding the divorce. (tr.) “In eternal love and faithfulness, your H.” The letter from Saturday (nearly two pages, 27 x 22.5 cm) marks a complete change of mood: (tr.) “Now I am back in Bayrischzell! With such hope and joy I went to the Post, in the certain expectation of finding letters from you. [..] How my heart bled with pain when there was nothing from you [..] Is it really such a great sacrifice for you to write me a few kind lines each day [..] ??? I am not supposed to take any more morphine, yet I lie awake night after night filled with restlessness and despair [..] Good night! A dreadful night lies ahead of me. [..] Your deeply unhappy H.” Contrary to the widely held view that Göring did not come into contact with morphine until he was wounded on 9 November 1923, he was already dependent on morphine as a result of his injuries from world war I. He repeatedly used his addiction in his letters as a means of pressure against Carin.Condition: II Questions about the lot?
