Description
Chinese lacquer album (spine missing), with a relief bone carving of a Chinese dragon on the cover (slightly damaged). 121 photographs, some picture postcards and newspaper clippings: MG division in front of the stables in Tsingtau, Chinese military airship, maneuver photos, photographs of all legations represented in Tsingtau in uniform (Americans, French, Austrians, Italians), Chinese actors and traditional costumes, boxers, executions etc. Dimensions 27 x 35 x 7 cm. Together with a silk embroidery “Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit in China 1909 - 1912” with a photograph of the album's owner (marine soldier Linsen, MG division) and shoulder straps of the 3rd Sea Battalion, under glass in a contemporary, elaborately relief-carved, gilded frame (slightly knocked), dimensions 100 x 75 cm. Slightly damaged in places, traces of use and age. Very interesting, unique group from the estate of an MG soldier deployed in China. Paul Linsen participated in the secret transport of the last Chinese Emperor Pu-Yi from the Forbidden City, in order to bring the then five-year-old Emperor to safety from the turmoil of the revolution. These experiences are documented in two newspaper articles glued onto the first page of the album.Condition: II Questions about the lot?
