Description

Bronze, with a brown patina, signed "Pr. Jensen" on the reverse of the plinth. An eagle with outstretched wings on a grey-brown stone plinth with white veining (with a few minor chips here and there), featuring an effective contrast between rough-hewn and polished surfaces. Signs of wear and age. Wingspan 53 cm. The Danish sculptor Peder Marius Jensen worked in Dresden and Berlin during the Imperial era from 1901 onwards; see Thieme-Becker, vol. 18, p. 519.
