Description

Round barrel with smooth bore, calibre 18 mm. Marked multiple times on the left side of the chamber and on the top tang with “1774”. The lock plate marked “Manufacture St. Etienne”. Jaw replaced. Walnut full-stock with brass furniture and iron ramrod. Small crack in front of the lock plate and chip around the butt cap. Length 41 cm. This model, of which only 8,000 units were ever produced, varies from the M 1763/66 pistols by its slightly convex hammer and lock plate. The top tang is marked with the year of manufacture rather than the model. Cf. U. Lander, F. Höfele, "Französische Ordonnanzpistolen 1733 - 1870".
