Description

Original double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section, circa 1600. Shallow fullers cut on both sides of the upper third, each struck with an illegible mark followed by the signature "ANTONIO PICHINIO". Short, slightly tapered ricasso. The ostentatious swept hilt made of solid cast silver, richly decorated in relief and delicately reworked. The arms of the quillons sculpted into three-dimensional heads, lavishly embellished with acanthus leaves and scrolling bands, interspersed with mascarons and warrior figures. An alliance coat of arms on the reverse at the root of the quillons. The pommel in the shape of a double-sided female bust. The knuckle bow broken at the lower edge and restored. Length 103 cm. Magnificent weapon, outstanding historicism era replica.
