Description

Heavy skull forged in one piece, of the “Hungarian type”, with four prominent ridges and a sturdy acorn-shaped pommel at the crown. Embossed decor with lily motifs. One-piece neck guard tapering to a point. Pivoting peak with turned and crimped border. The hinged cheek pieces, each strongly domed, with four pierced openings for hearing. Original leather loops for the chinstrap attached. Remains of a red collection number on the inside. Height 25.5 cm. A well-crafted, high-quality helmet in good condition.

Provenance: Ehemals Sammlung Schloss Sigmaringen. Vergleichbare Stücke sind dort auch heute noch ausgestellt.
