Description

Red-lacquered wood with gold-coloured and polychrome decoration. Several bear inscriptions in Japanese characters. Eight shallow cups on ring feet. Decorated with cherry blossoms, a crane, anchors, stars, and military and maritime emblems. Surfaces with scratching and abrasion. Losses to the lacquer and gold-coloured decoration along the rims. One cup with a long crack line to the underside between the footrim and outer edge. Diameter c. 9–15 cm.
