Description
Watercolor and pastel on paper (Canson & Montgolfier), bears signature lower right "L. Detroy". A multi-trunked tree dominates the foreground, opening onto a wide plain with groups of trees and a low range of hills. Verso with dealer's label, Gebr. Renz, Stuttgart. Parcel-gilt and silvered wood frame, glazed. Frame rubbed, with losses to the gilding; sheet toned at the edges; scattered drying cracks with raised edges in the foreground. Sheet 45.7 × 61.2 cm; framed 57.0 × 72.7 × 3.5 cm. Detroy, a post-impressionist landscape painter of the École de Crozant, worked chiefly in the Creuse valley between 1890 and 1940.Condition: I - Questions about the lot?
