Description
Sturdy, double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section (pitting in places). Narrow fullers on both sides of the upper third, a deep notch on the reverse (possibly a strike mark). ":S:" stamped in the fullers on both sides. Hilt made of hexagonal ridged bars, the large guard plates on both sides with fine openwork. S-shaped, curving quillons, the knuckle bow extending into a round loop. The original grip with ostentatious iron wire winding and Turk's heads. Double tapered, octagonal pommel with fine fullers.
