Description

Shinogi zukuri blade, chu-kissaki. Itame hada, irregular cho midare hamon with togari and ashi. A small spot of rust in the polish at the centre on the left of the blade. Copper habaki with remnants of gilding. Nakago with two mekugi-ana, inscribed "Bishu Osafune Yasumitsu", a barely legible date "Oei 27" (=1420) on the opposite side. In wooden shirasaya. Openwork iron tsuba with a ginkgo leaf motif. Same-covered tsuka under brown silk wrapping (defective). Bronze fuchi/kashira with shell ornaments, partially gilt bronze menuki. Dark brown lacquered saya (the finish knocked in places) with remnants of gold lacquer décor. Wooden placeholder blade. Blade length K/M 68.3 cm, overall length 98.5 cm. Including Japanese authentication papers.
