Description
Gilt silver. The exterior of the typical boat-shaped vessel embellished with coloured enamel tendrils on a dark red background. An enamelled double-headed eagle on a cream-coloured background in the centre. The border and top of the handle with vibrant blossoms on a green background. The monogram ”SW" engraved on the underside of the handle. The base stamped with assayer's mark with ”84" standard and illegible master's mark. The finial fixed at a later date. Length 9.2 cm, total weight 64.34 g. The Kreml Museum, Moscow, has a virtually identically shaped kovsh made by Fabergé's head artisan Feodor Rückert. See T.
