Description
Gilt silver, 18 ct. Gold mounting. Exquisitely wrought cigarette case in gilt silver. Rectangular body with shiny white translucent enamel on a wavy guilloche background. Hinged lid with a border of alternating green enamel leaves and ruby cabochons. Large ruby cabochon trigger. Small 18ct gold inlay (upper border). Inlay stamped with „72" standard. Base and inside of the lid stamped with assayer's mark with „88" standard, „FABERGE" in Cyrillic, workmaster's mark „HW". London and French import marks. Lid with incised inventory no. „21377". Very tiny chip in the enamel at the bottom. Dimensions 8.8 x 5.5 cm, total weight 142.45 g. Wigström was initially the assistant of Michael Perchin. After Perchin's death in 1903, he succeeded him as head workmaster during Fabergé's most productive period. From a private French collection.
