A small German ornate seal in the shape of a „Moor", early 18th century

Description

Agate, silver, partially gilt, rubies and diamonds. The torso made of agate, the head in dark-coloured horn. The silver gilt ruff set with rubies and attached silver cross with diamond chips. Partially gilt silver hat with stone-studded plumes (two stones have been lost/a small loop with mark? on the back). Oval base of partially gilt silver, the seal surface made of carnelian, chased with an antique-style bust of a warrior in profile. Total height 33 mm, total weight 6.36 g. According to family tradition, the seal originated from the ambit of Johann Melchior Dinglinger (1664 - 1731), goldsmith to the court of Augustus the Strong.
