Cal. 7,63mmMauser, SN. 5230, matching numbers, incl. grips. Dull bore. Made in 1898. Imperial proof marks double-crown/"U" with Oberndorf antler. Rear sight graduated 1 - 10. The top of chamber marked "Waffenfabrik / Mauser / Oberndorf a/N". Original finish >98%, some minor spotting. Moderate rubbing on barrel top and magazine housing, caused by wooden stock. Small parts fire-blued, a bit spotted. Hammer and lock assembly case hardened. Dark walnut grips, the interior of the right grip marked "1899 22/März Babylon Robert Koldewey 1898 Balbeck", the outside marked "PX" (Chi-Rho), the first two letters of the Greek word Χριστός (Christós), and the number "98". Original lanyard ring. The shoulder stock with matching number, no cracks, the furniture patinated and a bit spotty. Very good condition. Includes a letter of the previous owner, documenting the provenance.
