Description

The dagger blade with double fullers on both sides, unmarked. Gilt non-ferrous metal hilt, a raised GDR emblem on the pommel, the cream-coloured synthetic grip wound with yellow, metal-covered thread. Burnished steel scabbard with gilt mountings, appliquéd laurel leaves with four faceted rubies and a GDR emblem on the locket, stamped "6" on the front. No scabbard locking. In a custom-made presentation case with a triple closure and red faux leather cover, lined in blue velvet. A brass sheet loosely inserted inside, with legible typeface (tr.) "Presented by the Minister of National Defence of the GDR". The outside of the lid with silver embossed inscription (tr.) "For the protection of workers' and farmers' power". Signs of age and handling. Length 40 cm. Extremely rare honorary dagger, awarded by the Minister of National Defence, probably either by Armeegeneral Heinz Hoffmann (1960 - 1985) or Armeegeneral Heinz Keßler (1985 - 1989).
