Description

Early, unmarked version by Godet, Berlin, with tombac plate, six solid rivets, and soldered-on long pin system (slightly bent). Width 63.1 mm. Weight 65 g. Lightly worn, darkened. In its black presentation case with a gold band rim; the black velvet insert is missing. Also included is his damaged ribbon bar. Franz Grünert (1887-1967): 1906 Seekadett, 1909 Leutnant z.S., 1916 Kapitänleutnant, 1917 Commander of U 30, 1918 Commander of U 60. 1941 Kapitän z.S. and Director of the Equipment Department of the Kiel Shipyard, from 1942 Chief of the Naval Salvage and Sea Rescue Command at the Naval High Command East. Awarded the German Cross in Silver on November 7, 1944. His decorations from the Imperial Navy are available in our militaria catalog.
